PathwayEd

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 21, 2026

PathwayEd is operated by PathwayEd LLC. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we handle it. We tried to write it the way we write everything else here: plainly, and only about what the product actually does.

Who this covers

PathwayEd serves two kinds of users. Families subscribe directly, and a parent creates and controls the account. Schools license PathwayEd for their students under a separate agreement. A few points below apply differently to each, and we say so where they do.

What we collect

  • Parent account details: the name and email address used to create and manage the account.
  • Child profile details: a child's first name and grade. We do not ask for a child's last name, home address, or other identifying details.
  • Learning activity: the questions a student works on, their answers, and the mastery data we derive from graded work.
  • Payment details: handled by our payment processor. We do not store card numbers ourselves.

Children and parent control

Children do not have their own email or password. A child cannot create an account or sign in on their own. Every account is created by a parent (or, in a school, opened by staff), and a parent controls it. When a parent creates an account, they consent to our collecting the limited child information above so PathwayEd can teach. That is our COPPA posture: a parent stands behind every child profile, and there is no path for a child to sign up alone.

Schools

When a school licenses PathwayEd, the school is responsible for the student data in its account, and we handle that data under our agreement with the school. In that setting we act as a school official with a legitimate educational interest under FERPA. We use student information only to provide the service the school has asked for, and for no other purpose.

Service providers we use

We use a small set of trusted providers to run the service. Each one receives only the data it needs for its job:

  • Stripe processes payments.
  • Supabase hosts our database.
  • OpenAI, Anthropic, and ElevenLabs power the AI tutoring and voice. To provide a tutoring session, the conversation content is processed by these providers on our behalf.
  • Resend sends our email.
  • Vercel hosts the application.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it beyond the providers above and, for a school account, the school itself.

Deleting your data

A parent can ask us to delete their account and their children's information at any time. Email us at support@pathwayed.org and we will remove it. For a school account, deletion follows the school's agreement and instructions.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above, and material changes will be reflected here.
